what we believe
Every religion is someone’s “best judgment” as to whom and what God is, why all that is seen and unseen was created and what God expects of us. Most use their understanding as a guide for living their life and conducting their affairs in a peaceful, harmonious coexistence with those who share their beliefs as well as with those who possess a different understanding of our Creator and those who believe there was no creator.
A few use their understanding of God as a sword to intimidate others into submitting to their particular understanding of God. All true Christians have the Love of Christ for others who adhere to a different understanding of God’s nature and extend this love to those who have concluded (erroneously we feel) that there is no God. This, we believe is in keeping with the teaching of Hebrews 12:14 “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”
We recognize, after all that the operant word is “belief”. To our knowledge no one has ever returned from the hereafter to explain to us here on earth how wrong we are about the nature of God. That having been said, we do confidently believe that the conclusions of those who make a careful examination of all the evidence, those conclusions will parallel closely what we set forth here as What We Believe.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
The Holy Scriptures
We believe “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV.
Additionally, we believe all the books of the Old and New Testaments are without error or fallibility as originally given of God, that these writings are the very Word of God, and that they alone are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
Genesis 18:1, Psalm 2:7, Psalm 110:1, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 53:1-12, Matthew 1:18-23, Matthew 3:17, Matthew 8:29, Matthew 11:27, Matthew 14:33, Matthew 16:16, Matthew 16:27, Matthew 17:5, Matthew 27:1-65, Matthew 28:1-6, Matthew 19:1-29, Mark 1:1, Mark 3:11, Luke 1:35, Luke 4:41, Luke 22:70, Luke 24:46, John 1:1-18, John 10:30, John 11:25-27, John 12:44-50, John 14:7-11, John 16:15-16, John 17:1-5, John 20:1-20, Acts 1:9, Acts 2:22-24, Acts 7:55-56, Acts 9:4-5, Acts 20:1-38, Romans 1:3-4, Romans 3:23-26, Romans 5:6-21, Romans 8:1-3, Romans 10:4, 1 Corinthians 1:30, 1 Corinthians 2:2, 1 Corinthians 8:6, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, 1 Corinthians 15:24-28, 2 Corinthians 5:19-21, 2 Corinthians 8:9, Galatians 4:4-5, Ephesians 1:20, Ephesians 3:11, Ephesians 4:7-10, Philippians 2:5-11, Colossians 1:13-22, Colossians 2:9, 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, 1 Timothy 3:16, Titus 2:13-14, Hebrews 1:1-3, Hebrews 4:14-15, Hebrews 7:14-28, Hebrews 9:12-15, Hebrews 12:2, Hebrews 13:8, 1 Peter 2:21-25, 1 Peter 3:22, 1 John 1:7-9, 1 John 3:2, 1 John 4:14-15, 1 John 5:9, 2 John 7-9, Revelation 1:13-16, Revelation 5:9-14, Revelation 12:10-11, Revelation 13:8, Revelation 19:16.
The One Triune God
We believe in the One Triune God, who is separate and above the world as the Creator of heaven and earth, who is infinite Spirit, perfect, personal, light, love, wisdom, power and truth; eternal in His being, almighty, infallible in all things, including His foreknowledge of all events, past, present and future, as well as all free choices; that He is unalterable, all wise, holy, and just; and that the triune God is self-existent and self-revealing in three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each of whom is to be worshiped and honored equally as true God.

Creation
We believe in the special creation of the complete space-time universe and of every basic form of life in the six historic days of creation recorded in Genesis. We believe in the historicity of the Biblical account, including the special creation of Adam and Eve created in the divine image of God in spirit and soul and body as the literal ancestors of all people and not in any sense the products of any animal ancestry. And by personal disobedience to the revealed will of God man fell from grace and became a sinful creature and the progenitor of a fallen race who are sinful in both nature and practice, suffering under the wholly righteous judgment and wrath of God and totally lacking within themselves any possible means of reclamation or salvation.

Jesus Christ
Incarnation
We believe in Jesus Christ our great God and Savior, who is the Second Person of the Triune God, the Only Begotten Son, the Eternal Word manifested in the flesh. We believe that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, He became man by the miracle virgin birth of Mary, and that He continues forever as both true God and true Man co-joined as one Person with two natures.

Death
We believe that as Man, Jesus Christ was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin and gave Himself in death upon the cross, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice in full payment of the penalty due for the sins of every human being and thus offers salvation as a free gift based on grace alone.

Resurrection
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ arose again from the dead and was glorified in the same physical body in which He suffered and died and that His resurrection body is the archetype of that body which will be given to all believers at Christ’s return.

Ascension
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as our great High Priest ascended into heaven in the same glorified physical body in which He arose, was seated at His Father’s right hand, assuring us of the perfection of His work of redemption, and that He now, as Head over all things to the Church, is engaged on behalf of the saved as their only Advocate and Intercessor.

Return
We believe in that blessed hope, the personal, pre-millennial and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones which will be followed by His millennial reign on earth.

Mankind
We believe that man is the special creation of God, originally created in the image and likeness of God. God created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation, thus the gift of gender is part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice but by freely choosing to succumb to the temptation of Satan man sinned against his Creator, fell from his original innocence and consequently transmitted sin into the entire human race. As a consequence of sin, every child of Adam is dead in trespasses, is subject to the power of the devil and is in a state of separation from his Creator. We also believe that all who are born into the world, excepting the man Christ Jesus, are born with a nature that is totally corrupt.

Salvation
We believe that Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, by grace through faith; that salvation is the free gift of God, neither merited nor secured in part or in whole by any virtue or work of man and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, apart from Whom there is no possible salvation. Christ, by His own blood, obtained eternal redemption for the believer. Those who thus receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior are thereby born again of the Holy Spirit, are justified once and for all, and have become children of God. As such all true believers possess the gift of eternal life, a perfect righteousness, sonship in the family of God, deliverance and security from all condemnation, every spiritual resource needed for life and godliness, and the divine guarantee that they shall never perish. The sacredness of all humanity is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for all; therefore, every person of every race is in full possession of God given dignity and is therefore worthy of respect and Christian love.

The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine who inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. We believe the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Godhead, the divine Agent in nature, revelation and redemption who exalts Christ, convicts men of sin, regenerates, indwells, baptizes, seals, guides, teaches and sets believers apart to a holy life; that He keeps and empowers believers day by day. We believe that He is the Teacher of the Word of God through which he illuminates and enables men to understand God’s truth. His indwelling in the Christian is evidence that God is bringing the believer into a whole relationship with Christ and seals the believer unto the day of final redemption.

The Final State
We believe the Sovereign God will bring the world to its appropriate end in a manner and time of His sole and exclusive choosing. We believe in the eternal security and everlasting blessedness of the saved who, upon the return of Jesus Christ, will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord in their resurrected and glorified bodies and the unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting conscious punishment.

Baptism and The Lord’s Supper
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted only two ordinances which we are commanded to observe until He comes: water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that water baptism is not necessary for salvation but is an outward sign of salvation and our obedience to Him, symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, and it is further a sign of the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to the faith of the Baptized in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance in most main stream Christian denominations, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper.
We believe that Jesus Christ instituted the Lord’s Supper to commemorate His death till He comes. The Lord’s Supper is a sign by which we thankfully remember the new covenant which Jesus established. In sharing in the body and blood of Christ, i.e. the bread and cup, each believer remembers the death of Jesus and God’s act of deliverance in raising Jesus from the dead. As we relive this event with a common meal, we give thanks for all God’s acts of deliverance in the past and present, for the forgiveness of sins, and for God’s continuing grace in all aspects of our lives.

The Church
We believe that the universal Church of Jesus Christ (which He began to build on the day of Pentecost and will complete at His second coming) is composed of all those of all the ages who have been redeemed and washed in His blood, regenerated and sealed by the Holy Spirit, and that they are saved to worship and to serve; that it is the responsibility and privilege of all who are saved to seek to win others to Christ, to the “uttermost part of the earth”; that they should seek to live a holy life, to separate themselves from and forsake all that might dishonor God, cast discredit on His cause, or weaken their testimony.

We believe in the existence of Satan, a personal devil, a being of great cunning and power who originally was created a holy and perfect being, but through pride and unlawful ambition rebelled against God and became utterly depraved in character. Satan is the great Adversary of God and His people, leader of all other evil spirits and agents, the deceiver and god of this present world. We believe that he can exert vast power but only as far as God permits him to so do. We believe that he was defeated and judged at the Cross, and his final doom and destination in the lake of fire and brimstone, leading to eternal torment day and night forever is certain. We believe we are able to resist and overcome him only in the armor of God and by the Blood of the Lamb, the Alpha and Omega, the Creator of all things, the Glory of God, our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ.
